Considered one of the formidable teams in the T20 World Cup, India did not live up to the expectations and lost both games. Will India make it to the semis and win the second title? Watch ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 live on YuppTV and enjoy unlimited cricket.

India started its world cup campaign on October 24 in Dubai against archrivals Pakistan. Known for their rivalry for ages, cricket fans predicted that the Indian team would gain the upper hand against neighbours, given their unbeaten 5-0 record in the T20 world cup matches.

Pakistan won the toss and invited India to bat first. Pakistan pacer Shaheen Afridi bowled a brilliant spell in the powerplay and dismissed both the openers. KL Rahul was clean bowled by the inswinging length delivery, and Rohit was dismissed leg before. The Men in Green bowlers never let Indians free their arms and brought the match in control. Virat and Rishabh played responsibly and managed to put 151 on the board. In response to a below-par score, Pakistan openers Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan took on Indian bowlers and registered a historic win. None of the Indian bowlers had any impact on the Green brigade and went wicketless. Babar Azam led Pakistan to end age-old Indian dominance.

India and New Zealand locked horns in their second match after both were slammed by Pakistan. New Zealand has always been a tough team for India and continued to play the role of spoilsport again in this match. Trent Boult and Ish Sodhi picked regular wickets and restricted India at a paltry 110. The Kiwis registered a clinical win after openers provided a brilliant start. After suffering two significant losses in the tournament, India’s net run rate has taken a toss and made the equations look difficult. India will face Afghanistan, Scotland and Namibia in their remaining games. Pakistan has already entered the semis, and India’s chances to get into the semi-finals will depend on how Afghanistan and New Zealand perform. India must win their next matches with a significant margin to stay alive in the race for the semifinals.

India’s next matches in the tournament:

India will face Afghanistan in Abu Dhabi on November 3, India will take on Scotland in Dubai on November 5, followed by a fight with Namibia in Dubai on November 8.
